FAQs.

What Is Skin Health?

Skin health refers to the state or health of your skin at any given time. Your skin is the largest organ on your body, consisting of several components, including water, protein, lipids, and different minerals and chemicals. Its job is crucial: to protect you from infections and germs and it can be impacted by internal and external factors. And throughout your life, your skin will change constantly. Monitoring your skin health is a great way to know how to address any changes. In the K’ept health app, you can track your Skin Health Scores by conducting a skin analysis regularly. Also, taking selfies in the app will give you a visual cue of your skin health.

What Are Skin Signs Of Health?

Our internal health and organs are important, but your skin is the first layer of defense and thus provides important clues to your overall health.  For example, a red, itchy rash might signal allergies or infections, and a red “butterfly” rash on your face might indicate lupus. A yellow tint might indicate liver disease. And dark or unusual moles might be a warning sign of skin cancer. Also, managing a skin condition when you have a chronic illness is important as the wrong products and daily habits can increase discomfort.  The K’ept Health mobile app can help you keep a lookout for unexpected changes to your skin, easily manage a routine and products, and also serve as your skin health journal when you speak with your doctor about your concerns or during routine visits.

How Can Mindfulness or Meditation Help With Skin Health?

There is no question that the health of your body is often reflected on the skin, but sometimes the power of mental and emotional wellness is overlooked.  Meditation techniques have immense benefits for people suffering from chronic skin conditions by reducing stress, fear, worry, and anxiety. Dermatologists and physcho-dermatologists (medical doctors with specializations in both dermatology and psychology) report that addressing mental well-being often diminishes a skin condition thus, relaxation techniques can help treat acne, eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, and other skin concerns. Just 20 minutes of meditation can change your mood and mindset. To help you incorporate meditation into your routine, the K’ept Health mobile app has a series of guided meditations.

When Should I Connect With A Practitioner?

Everyone experiences skin problems at some point, but some conditions require special treatment. There are different skin health professionals you can see if you have a skin condition. But, there are times when you are best served by seeing a dermatologist— who specializes in diseases of the skin, hair, and nails. And there are times when it is best to see an esthetician - who specializes in improving the appearance of the outermost layers of your skin.

Dermatologists are trained to diagnose and treat over 3,000 different conditions affecting the skin, hair, or nails. You can see a dermatologist for any issue affecting these parts of the body, whether it is minor or significant. A dermatologist should be seen annually, when there are sudden changes of the skin, and when skin changes persist.

An esthetician can work with various skin conditions, advise on non-medical skincare products, and perform non-medical anti-aging skin care treatments. An aesthetician can provide pre- and post-surgical skincare. You can see an esthetician as often as once a month, quarterly, or yearly.

The Concierge Care service in the K’ept Health mobile app will connect you with vetted practitioners in your state at no cost to you. Simply, share your skin concerns, needs, and goals and our team will respond within 48/72 hours.

Is There A Cost To Use K’ept Health?

There is no cost to download the app and access all app features and services. There is a monthly cost of $5.99 to conduct unlimited skin analysis, track unlimited Skin Health Scores, and access newly released mediations.
